SCBC Executive President Zhang Hanlin’s Policy Report Accepted by SouthernThink Tank

Recently, a think tank report on regional fund allocation—led by Professor Zhang Hanlin, Executive President of SCBC—was officially accepted by SouthernThink Tank, a provincial policy research publication. This marks yet another achievement in our university’s research endeavors and fully demonstrates the institution’s role as a think tank serving local economic and social development, as well as its academic strength.

The acceptance of this think tank report marks another significant stepforward in SCBC’s strategy of “serving local development through scientific research.” It highlights the university’s insight, research capabilities, and sense of responsibility in the field of applied policy research, and fully demonstrates the university’s long-standing commitment to addressing major regional issues and proactively offering policy recommendations.

Moving forward, SCBC will continue to leverage its academic strengths and faculty expertise, deepen collaboration among government, industry, academia, and research institutions, and continuously enhance its capacity for policy advisory research. By promoting the practical application of more high-quality policy research, the university will contribute even more “SCBC wisdom” and “SCBC strength” to regional and national social development.

SCBC Student Wins Excellence Award at the 13th Helen Foster Snow International Translation Competition

Recently, the results of the 13th Helen Foster Snow International Translation Competition were announced. Liang Huisi, an English Teacher Education major at SCBC who enrolled in 2025, won the Excellence Award for her strong bilingual proficiency and outstanding translation performance.

This competition focuses on assessing participants’ ability to understand the source text and to convey information accurately and naturally between different languages. During her preparation, Liang Huisi consistently adhered to the principle of “understand first, then translate.” She first read through the entire text to grasp the main idea and emotional tone of the article before beginning her initial translation. After completing the first draft, she repeatedly refined the word choices, grammar, and phrasing, while making appropriate use of AI tools to check for omissions and further refine the translation.

This award not only recognizes Liang Huisi’s professional competence but also reflects the success of our university’s educational approach, which emphasizes the integration of academic study and practical experience and encourages students to participate in intercollegiate exchanges. In the future, the university will continue to provide students with diverse opportunities for learning and practical experience, supporting them in enhancing their professional competence and broadening their international horizons.
